Postage Needs Beta Testers

July 31st, 2009 by Chris

Our wooly developers have been working hard here at the pasture on a new update to Postage. The primary new feature for this release will be support for sharing your postcards via your Facebook account.

Before we can release the update to the store, we need some help testing the application. If you are an iPhone or iPod touch user and a fan of Postage with a Facebook account, we’d love to consider you for beta testing this new release. Just drop us a note here and give us a little expectation for how much time you can devote to testing. We’d love to just include everyone that is interested, but unfortunately we are limited by Apple to only a small number of devices that we can test with.

Note to pervious beta testers We recently purged our testing device list and therefore you are not likely on the current list. If you would like to keep beta testing Postage please let us know. We apologize for the inconvenience.

BusyCal Public Beta

July 27th, 2009 by Chris

Local Seattle software developer and friend of the sheep, BusyMac, have just released their latest creation into public beta. BusyCal is a fully integrated replacement for iCal.

We use iCal heavily around here and to be honest, it feels rather neglected these days. I’ve been using BusyCal for a little while now and I can report if you are looking for an iCal replacement you’ll not likely be disappointed. My two favorite features so far include publish and subscribe of calendars on the LAN and an event editing interface that is so much smoother than the changes brought to iCal with Leopard. I also love the live weather integration.

Head over to BusyMac’s site and sign up for the public beta and get some relief for your calendaring ailments.

UW Course on Mac and iPhone programming

July 15th, 2009 by Chris

The University of Washington is now offering a certificate course in Macintosh and iPhone programming.

This program is offered in 3 parts, with the first class that introduces objective-C and Cocoa starting this fall. Our good friend Hal Mueller is teaching the first course. The advisory board for this program is comprised of many of the best and well-known Mac and iPhone developers in the region, so you know the content is going to be great.

If you are in the Seattle area and looking to become a master of Cocoa and Objective-C, you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity. I know that the classes will fill up quick, so apply soon.

Postage News Roundup

July 15th, 2009 by Chris

CFO Returned

Our CFO was returned, half-shorn, but mostly unharmed. While he managed to adjust the ridiculously low price of Postage by the end of the week, we are still concerned about his faculties after the ordeal. Postage continues to be on sale, now for $1.99 – 60% off the regular price! We all hope a little time grazing in the pasture will return him to his senses and put an end to this pricing madness!

iPhone’s Distinctive Dozen

Macworld and PCWorld ran a story on the 12 apps that defined the first year of the App Store. We are honored that Postage was included in the list. Read all about their list of iPhone applications that have made a significant impact here

Postage 1.2 Arriving Soon

An update to Postage is in review with Apple. The new version adds nine new postcard designs and the ability to use Apple’s built-in mail facilities to send postcards. In addition you will now be able to save a postcard to the device’s photo library without having to send the card. The update is rounded out with a new Swedish language localization and a handful of bug fixes. Look for it sometime in the next week or so.

Our CFO has been abducted sale!

July 9th, 2009 by Chris

NEWS FLASH!

Unbelievably strange events have been occurring here at RogueSheep HQ since late Tuesday night. A series of mysterious flying objects began regular fly-bys during our evening analysis of iTunes sales data. After recovering from a sudden and brilliant flash of light we awoke from our stupor to find that our CFO had gone missing right before our eyes! Searching the pasture high and low has yet to turn out a clue of his woolly whereabouts.

In our haste to locate our missing flock-mate, none of us noticed the change to our iPhone application, Postage, until now. The anomalous events somehow triggered a change in our pricing data. Postage is now set to retail for a mere $0.99!

With our CFO missing and our iTunes passwords keyed to his very unique hoof-print, none of us has the ability to change the price back to its regular point.

We hope we find him soon so we can put an end to this crazy Postage pricing mania! Luckily, the local authorities have been sniffing down a few leads and feel confident he’ll be returned to us safe and sound before the weekend is over.

In the meantime I guess there is not much we can do to prevent you from getting this crazy 80% off bargain of the century! You had better hurry though, because once he is back there’s no telling what price he’ll set!
