After a long wait in the approval process (16 exhausting days), Postage 2.0 is now available on the App Store.
The central new feature for 2.0 is the ability to share your postcards directly to your Facebook account. We have also added support for copy and paste when using iPhone OS 3.0. Paste allows you to bring in images from a variety of other sources to use in your postcards. Copy lets you easily take your creations out of Postage for use in other applications. This is a great way to share a postcard via MMS using the Messages application.
In addition to the sharing features in 2.0, the update includes all the interesting features and content we have added along the way since the original release. Highlights include: a new postcard category and over 10 new designs; ability to use the iPhone’s built-in email client to send your postcards; performance enhancements to photo effects and dramatically improved text styling features.
Two final bits of Postage news round out this update. First, if you watch carefully you’ll see Postage’s distinct purple icon on the home page of the iPhone in this Apple commercial : “Avid”. Its certainly not as rewarding as being one of the apps featured in the commercial, but is still a satisfying moment of pride and an appreciated nod from the Apple marketing department.
Finally, if you wander by an Apple store anytime soon, take a look at the display iPhones out on the floor. Apple kindly installed a demo version of Postage on many of the devices and has included Postage on some of the in-store marketing material.
